What’s Better: Hyaluronic Acid or Gold Collagen in your Mask Sheet?

I’m always out to try new sheet masks! I had come to realise my two favourite ingredients in masks are hyaluronic acid and gold, thought it would be good to share my review in this blog. I was thrilled to try out 2 masks from SNP containing my favourite ingredients! SNP stands for Shining Nature Purity, if you’re curious.

Mask Sheet with Hyaluronic Acid

I have learnt from other beauty bloggers the importance of reading the ingredients list behind the mask pack. In this review, I am using the SNP Diamond Brightening Ampoule Mask Sheet. The highest components in the mask are usually labelled first, in this case was water and glycerine. Sodium hyaluronate (my favourite Hyaluronic acid!!!) was the third highest component of the mask. The next ingredient is followed by niacinamide, which known to have brightening effects! Interestingly, though it is labelled as a diamond brightening mask, diamond powder is the last ingredient in the list.

The Experience

It worked wonderfully as a hydrating mask. I was able to leave the mask on about 50 mins without it drying out and I’m usually in air-conditioned spaces, even at home. The quality of the cotton felt thick but it was stretchy and thin enough to spread and stick onto my face. The liquid felt thicker than water but still runny. Amount of liquid was moderate and I was able to put all of it on my face. My face felt plumped up and looked a lot calmer.

I had a pimple on my chin and it reduced the redness. There was an obvious whitening effect. There was alcohol in the mask but it was not really obvious. I can’t really put my finger on what the fragrance was but it was mildly fruity. The hole for the mouth didn’t fit my lower half of the face which I had no problems with because so far none of the sheet masks fitted my face perfectly! The mask stayed on while I walked around doing stuff.

Mask with Gold Collagen

I chose the SNP Gold Collagen Ampoule mask sheet for the comparison review. From the ingredient list, collagen was third and gold was the second last. Collagen is known to potentially reduce fine lines and wrinkles, promote smoother skin texture and help restore or maintain the skin’s elasticity. Gold flakes were visibly seen on the mask as well as in the excess liquid when I took the mask out of the packaging.

The material of the mask sheet was similar to the Diamond Brightening Ampoule Mask Sheet. Both had the same fit on my face and similar amount of wetness density. I could not smell the alcohol in this mask. It had a strong but pleasant fragrance. I left it on about 50 minutes as well. After I took the mask off, my face looked like there was a sort of a subtle glow to it which I really liked! My face looked pretty calm as well. My face seemed smoother too.

Beauty Verdict

Which of the two masks do I prefer? I like the hyaluronic acid in one, love the gold flakes in the other! It is difficult to pick a winner between the two. If I really had to choose one, I would recommend going for hyaluronic acid containing mask because you can never go wrong with hydration!
